Mircea Laura

Romania, 1979

Laura Mircea was born in Romania on June 9, 1979. She lives and works in San Pier d'Isonzo (GO).

In the late 1990s, Laura Mircea moved to Italy, where she took painting courses and worked as an assistant in the studios of Friulian artists, exploring techniques and cultural meanings that gradually converged into a personal and recognizable research.

A material artist, she blends painting and sculpture, transforming matter into an expressive language capable of expressing the beauty and fragility of our planet. Her work is distinguished by the use of natural materials and minerals such as quartz, topaz, hematite, volcanic rock dust, authentic rust, and copper green: elements that lend her works uniqueness and become a metaphor for the Earth's change and transformation over time.

From the very beginning, his research has gone beyond simple visual representation. Mircea's works take the form of conceptual maps of the world, narrating continental drift, the invisible connections between peoples, submerged communication networks, and the marks left by man on nature, such as islands of plastic in the oceans.

Through the artistic cycle Deriva dei Continentali, the artist investigates the profound relationship between the physical world and the human dimension, forcefully expressing the need for a balance between man and nature.

The work that epitomizes his research is the Heart-Shaped Globe, a powerful emblem of peace, unity among peoples, and environmental awareness. The heart shape encompassing the continents becomes an invitation to overcome barriers and divisions, recognizing ourselves as part of a single living organism.

His artistic journey is constantly evolving, in a constant dialogue between art, nature, and society. His works become a testimony to our times, revealing the fragile balance upon which the contemporary world rests.
